Man faces charges over gunshots, drugs

A Chattanooga man was arrested on several charges early this morning after firing six shots inside a residence, police said.

Darryl “Too Tall” Roberts, 44, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, reckless endangerment, aggravated burglary, felony drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident at a residence on Hixson Pike shortly after midnight, said Officer Rebecca Royval, a Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman.

Chattanooga police responded to the residence about 12:22 a.m., where Kelly Hartshorn said a black male she knew as “Too Tall” climbed through an unlocked window and began arguing with her male friend, Jesse Wilkins, Officer Royval said.

Mr. Wilkins went to a bedroom and locked the door while Ms. Hartshorn attempted to get Mr. Roberts to leave, Officer Royval said. Mr. Roberts allegedly then pulled out a revolver and fired six shots through the door of the bedroom Mr. Wilkins was in, she said.

There were four small children in the adjacent bedroom, but no one was injured from the shots, Officer Royval said. The suspect fled the scene through the front door, she said.

Officers later located Mr. Roberts in a nearby apartment, where he was arrested, Officer Royval said.
