With President Barack Obama having viewed this week’s elections that proved he is not very popular, and with Republicans having gained a House of Representatives majority and greater numbers in the Democrat-run Senate, Obama says he’s willing to “compromise.”
On what?
Obama is facing deficits of well over $1 trillion a year. He wants to undo some Republican tax cuts. He is facing frustrating wars, with Americans engaged in Afghanistan and, to some extent, Iraq. Unemployment is nearly 10 percent. ObamaCare and other problems are abrasive.
“No one party will be able to dictate where we go from here,” Obama suggested. We must “figure out how we can move forward together,” he said. But any “compromise” he proposes has been minimal at best.
Democrats are weaker. Republicans have gained, but what solutions do they offer? Republicans are salivating about their presidential prospects in the 2012 election — but with no outstanding GOP presidential candidate yet in sight.
Sadly, our federal government is in disarray. Who will provide real leadership?
