Illness is spreading through McMinn County schools.
So many people are sick that the county school system will be closed Monday “due to rapid decrease in attendance at the schools on the northern and eastern side of the county,” according to a Friday post on the system’s Facebook page. “Hopefully this will lessen exposure and the spread of the viruses,” the post concludes.
This follows the Friday closing of Etowah City School, located in the southeastern portion of McMinn, for a high number of illnesses. A post Thursday on that school’s Facebook page also alerted parents of the closure.
There is no formal word on what type of illness caused the closings.
