KNOXVILLE — Minutes after his team improbably turned a five-point deficit in the final seconds into an overtime road win, Donnie Tyndall still seemed unsure what had happened.

You couldn’t blame the Tennessee basketball coach for scratching his head, either.

The Volunteers appeared headed toward a fifth loss in six games before Robert Hubbs hit a shot at the buzzer to send Wednesday night’s game at Vanderbilt into an overtime in which Tennessee prevailed 76-73 in front of a season-high crowd at the Commodores’ Memorial Gym.

“I really don’t know how we won the game, to be honest with you,” Tyndall said during his postgame press conference.

What matters, though, is that the Vols (14-9, 6-5 SEC) finally won a close game, one with 15 lead changes and seven ties, after dropping their last four games by a combined 19 points.
