Merry Christmas, Chattanooga!
For the first time in my 37 years, I am not spending the holidays at home in Kentucky. So it’s been an interesting few weeks, trying to learn how to “Christmas” without the help of my parents. (Well, I have had some help. My mother did mail me a box of her least-favorite ornaments so I could decorate a small cedar in my yard.)
Mostly, though, I’ve been learning how to cook. In fact, I’ve been cooking for three days – homemade marinades, soup broths, pie crusts – recipe upon recipe just getting ready for the main event!
I’m determined to make a memorable feast for my partner and I, and you know what? It’s exhausting – but also illuminating.
To my parents – to all that have put in the effort to make Christmas magic – we may not be together this year, but I see your spirit now clearer than ever.
And now, a few recent stories:
Chattanooga’s first responders were among those vaccinated against COVID-19 this week, while vaccinations will start next week in Tennessee nursing homes and assisted living centers.
Here are seven ways to spend the holidays around Chattanooga.
And, check out this old black-and-white photo that arrived in an email a few weeks ago. Can you guess what year these Boy Scouts went to California?
