McCallie basketball coach Dan Wadley didn’t think his team played particularly well Thursday night against Boyd-Buchanan in the Times Free Press Best of Preps tournament at Chattanooga State. But the fact his team made seven 3-point goals helped cure a lot of ills.
“When we hit shots,” Wadley said after the Blue Tornado’s 60-43 victory over Boyd-Buchanan, “we look like a good team.”
They never trailed against the Buccaneers. But after having their 12-point halftime lead cut to 33-26, Wadley used a timeout with 4:16 to go in the third quarter.
Afterward, Jamaal Calvin and Jorden Williams made 3-point shots within 25 seconds of each other. And although Hall Allen connected from 3-point distance for the Bucs at the 3:23 mark, Williams answered from well behind the top of the key to make it 42-29.
