One person died in a car accident on APD 40 between Benton Pike and Overhead Bridge Road early Saturday morning, said Bob Gault of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly after midnight, police were called to APD 40 after someone was reportedly driving northbound in the southbound lane.
A woman in a 2002 Ford Taurus was driving the wrong direction when she struck a man driving a 1990 Toyota Camry. The man was taken to SkyRidge Hospital where he died an hour later. The woman was taken to Erlanger, where she is still in ICU, Mr. Gault said.
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the accident and would not yet release the names of the victims.
This was the 14th traffic fatality in Bradley County this year and the third on APD 40. This accident took place about one mile away from the site of an accident last month involving a vehicle and two logging trucks, Mr. Gault said.
