Linda Rugina, manager of North River Civic Center in Hixson, has organized an exhibit of paintings and photographs that will be on view through May. Titled “Picture This,” the show features the work of painters Gay Arthur, Mary B. Lynch and Denton Ridge, and photographers Mary Barnett, Jenny Shugart and Bob Wright.
The participating photographers illustrate a range of interpretation of subject matter — from images made from color slides to documentary depictions to black-and-white close-ups. Many of the paintings focus on a sense of place — from the simplicity of Shaker buildings and landscapes to urban architecture to imagined spaces.
North River Civic Center, 1009 Executive Dr., is open 9 a,m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 870-8924.
