A man returned to his home on 2410 Daughtry Lane in East Brainerd tonight to find smoke billowing from his garage.
He called 911 and then attempted to put the fire out with a garden hose, but was unsuccessful. The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to the residence and was able to get the fire under control, said Amy Maxwell, spokeswoman for Hamilton County Emergency Services.
According to Chief Steve Wright, who was on scene, the cause of the blaze is yet to be determined and damages are estimated to be between $4,000 and $5,000.
No one was injured in the fire, and the residents plan to stay with family in the area.
