CCS outscores Polk girls

BENTON, Tenn. – After watching Polk County’s Maclain Yowarsky light up her team for 18 first-half points, Chattanooga Christian coach Pam Hindman did some lighting up of her own, jumping on her Lady Chargers in the locker room at halftime.

The final results made it worthwhile.

CCS held Yowarsky to four second-half points, and the Lady Chargers limited the Wildkittens to three points in a decisive fourth quarter to claim a 63-54 victory Tuesday at Polk County. The win was Hindman’s first victory at Polk County, where she played in the 1980s.

“We’re a better team when we play instinctive,” Hindman said. “Polk runs good sets, and Maclain can flat-out stroke it. A few times we got lost in the shuffle and she was left wide-open for shots.

“We stressed to the girls at halftime that they needed to communicate on defense. That’s something we weren’t doing.”
