The 36th annual Cruise-In on the River is set for Saturday, Aug. 25, and this car show is a cruise-in for a cause.

Cruise-In on the River will be hosted by the Chickamauga Region chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America at the Tennessee Riverpark on Amnicola Highway. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. There is a $20 entry fee, and goody bags and T-shirts will be given to the first 100 to register. There is no admission charge for spectators.

“We are one of the oldest car clubs in the country, headquartered in Hershey, Pennsylvania, with local chapters throughout the world,”says Peter Iorio, president of the local chapter of AACA.

“All classic car enthusiasts are encouraged to enter their cars for the event,” he says.

Iorio says proceeds from the cruise-in will benefit Chattanooga Down Syndrome Society, Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals and the East Ridge Fund for Needy Children.

Cars will not be judged, however, car clubs with the most participation will receive cash prizes, with a $200 cash prize for the club with the most participation. Six $50 cash awards will be among door prizes given away during the day.
