Pianist, tenor perform free Schubert concert
CHATTANOOGA – Tenor James Frost and pianist Jim Lees will perform Schubert’s early masterpiece of song and narrative “Die Schöne Müllerin” (The Lovely Miller’s Daughter) at St. Elmo Presbyterian Church at 4400 St. Elmo Ave. at 3 p.m.
Presented by Harv Wileman, the performance is free and open to the public.
“This German song cycle takes the listener on a young man’s journey from his initial infatuation with his boss’s beautiful daughter, through the full bloom of love, to his ultimate devastation, destruction, and death by drowning brought on by the fickleness of her love,” Wileman wrote in an email. “Wonderful poetry, wonderful music, wonderful artists.”
