Many sisters don’t want anything to do with their older brothers, but Leah Schulson didn’t see it that way when it came to hers.

“A lot of the reason I look at school the way I do is because (of) Michael,” the 2010 valedictorian at Baylor School said. Michael Schulson, who just completed his sophomore year at Yale University, was the 2008 valedictorian at Baylor. The two are the first brother and sister to have earned the honor at the school.

Leah said her parents fostered a learning environment in their home by encouraging her and her brother to read and by reinforcing the independent academic climate they had at St. Nicholas School.

Leah will attend Harvard University in the fall and is “happily undecided” about a major.

“I have a lot of different interests,” she said, “so I figure I’ll give myself at least a year to try these different things and see what clicks.”
