‘It’s a Jungle Out There’

Four artists who have recently joined Lookout Mountain Gallery are being featured in “It’s a Jungle Out There.” Opening Friday, the show is a “wild mix of paintings and jewelry that reflect variety in our artists’ tastes, talents and techniques,” said Susan Kendrick, director of the gallery.

Hubert Wackermann creates photorealistic paintings that depict the lives of American Indians. Although he grew up in Germany, Mr. Wackermann is fascinated with the Indians of North America and lived among them for a while. Through exquisite detail, he shows them engaged in various rituals, their natural surroundings and wild life indigenous to the area.

Beverly Evans is inspired by a beauty. Her Tennessee landscapes and still-life paintings are executed in a soft, impressionistic style. Erika Gerber, a native of South Africa, depicts bold, whimsical and colorful animals reminiscent of her homeland.

And, rounding out the show is Brenda Richter who constructs jewelry from Italian silver and glass.

A reception will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. The show will remain on view through April.
