Chattanooga: 4 Brainerd High students charged with weapon possession

Four Brainerd High School students were charged with carrying a weapon on school property today after school resource officers found a loaded .38 caliber handgun in their possession.

The school resource officers received information earlier today that a student was carrying a weapon on school property, said Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson. School authorities and the resource officer jointly conducted an investigation, finding four students had passed the weapon between each other during the day, she said.

The weapon was found in the possession of one of the female juveniles, according to a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The two males and two females involved were transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
