Moms gear: Collapsible stroller great for apartment dwellers

Moms gear: Collapsible stroller great for apartment dwellers

McClatchy-Tribune

The dream of living in a house by the time the first baby arrives? Not a reality for the current generation of new parents.

The recession is keeping many new parents in the apartments or condominiums they assumed they’d leave before the baby arrived.

The lucky few have space in the foyer to park their stroller as well as a practical condo board who understand the trials of carrying a stroller and a baby down three flights of stairs.

Other parents aren’t as fortunate and need a stroller they can easily carry up the stairs and store in an unfairly tiny front closet.

The Bugaboo bee is a collapsible stroller designed to grow with baby from infancy to toddlerhood. For parents living in small spaces, having just one stroller can be advantageous.

The stroller weighs 18.5 pounds and is designed to be carried one-handed by grabbing the sidebar. Super coordinated parents can place the handlebar over their shoulder and carry the stroller hands-free.

The stroller has an aluminum frame and swivel, foam-filled rubber tires. The seat is reversible so little ones can face forward or back towards their parents.

The seat has three reclining options and the backrest is height adjustable. A sun or rain canopy is optional and a car seat adapter can be purchased separately.

The bee starts at $600 at www.bugaboo.com.
