Firefighter charged in Hixson holdup
Police charged a Chattanooga firefighter with aggravated robbery following a holdup at a Hixson Pike convenience store Sunday.
Steven Ratledge, 27, has been a firefighter for three and a half years and was assigned to Station 19 in Hixson, fire department spokesman Bruce Garner said in a news release. Ratledge has been placed on unpaid leave, Garner said.
Chattanooga police said officers got a robbery call at 7:10 a.m. at a convenience store near the intersection of Hixson Pike and Adams Road. They got a suspect description, then were sent to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 153.
