The holidays are a perfect time for a tea party, and Leila’s Tea Room aboard the Delta Queen, 100 River St., is the perfect place. Deena Romer opened her restaurant in early November. She’s serving made-from-scratch quiche, tea sandwiches, freshly baked scones, pastries and soups, along with a wonderful choice of teas in the elegant surroundings of the historic riverboat.
The restaurant is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and any time during the week for private parties up to 50 people.
“I visited Chattanooga for a week back in March and fell in love with Chattanooga,” Romer said. “The people here are so genuine and nice, and I want to pamper them. That’s my passion.”
If you’ve never partaken of such an event, an English tea is a perfect way to spend time with friends in an elegant setting surrounded by antique china, furniture and food served on tiered trays.
