Look to character, principle as guides
The caption on a cartoon stated: “Dad, if socialism doesn’t work, why do people support it?” “Because they don’t work either, son.”
What a stark reminder of where our country has been headed for my 76 years, and this election could end the constitutional republic it started out to be! Raised in a socialist-run city in Ohio, I have seen socialism creeping in firsthand.
Democrats, most Republicans, the mainstream media and many in education are followers of communist doctrine and opponents of the Constitution. Our children have no clue what the Constitution is about but follow the teachings of Karl Marx. Our justice system has a double standard of fairness where the Clintons and their followers are above the law but taxpaying citizens are guilty until proven innocent. Though a free society requires that rules apply equally to everyone, the FBI, IRS, EPA, etc., are corrupt pawns.
Who’s to blame? How do we solve it? In 1823, Noah Webster answered both questions. He said: “In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular denomination of the candidate – look to his character . “

Vote Thongnopnua for state’s future
Joda Thongnopnua is one of the few candidates for state office who can clearly state what he will actually do when elected to state office. This is due to his strong work ethic and the education he received from East Ridge public schools and UTC. He’s a remarkable young man and deserves your vote.
Joda supports expansion of Medicaid because working people should never have to choose between earning a living or the health care they need.
Joda is a fierce advocate for stronger public schools, higher teacher pay and fully funded classrooms to ensure every child has access to a great education. That’s what he has benefited from; this is a great example of paying-it-forward.
Joda will ask the legislature to raise the minimum wage because anyone who does good work should get paid fairly.
Joda was born and raised in East Ridge to a hard-working family. He is optimistic, smart, cooperative and caring. He will raise the level of civil discourse in Nashville. Surely we can agree that is a good thing. Consider, too, the Tennessee values he supports.
Vote Joda for District 30. Be proud you did. He’s the future of Tennessee.

Our panacea is Democrats
Vote! Why do more Tennesseans not vote? We are about the 50th state in voter turnout, and I ask you to do something about that. We Democrats should show folks that we have some clout here, even though gerrymandering has affected our state negatively. Then before 2020, we need to work on a fair way to divide up our voting districts. In Iowa, there is a committee consisting of an equal number of Democrats, Republicans and independents who decide about dividing the state into districts. Doesn’t that seem fairer to you?
Now, please listen. I do not favor building a wall, and according to a majority of Americans, others don’t either. Why would we spend $25-$50 billion dollars on that (which will not work, by the way) instead of working on broken infrastructure, which would put more people to work. I do believe that every American needs health care, and I vote for Tennessee to expand Medicaid to help those less fortunate than I am with my Medicare.
Vote for Democrats and a change in Congress. We need to work together for our problems to be solved, not to be jammed down our throats.
