Chattanooga Whiskey debuts new flavors

Chattanooga Whiskey announced Thursday it will release on Aug. 10 what it bills as its most unique bourbons since the company’s 7-year history.

Batch 009 is Tennessee Double Malt and Batch 010 is Tennessee Double Barrel. Both batches showcase the high malt style and bold approach to traditional bourbon whiskey.

Starting in 2011, Chattanooga Whiskey challenged the law and won the right to distill whiskey in Chattanooga for the first time in over 100 years. The Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery now hosts over 25,000 visitors per year, and serves as the hub of innovation to push the boundaries of craft bourbon and whiskey. \

The Riverfront Distillery is the production home to Chattanooga Whiskey’s signature Tennessee High Malt whiskey, scheduled to release in 2019.

Apple value rises to $973 billion

Apple surged to its biggest gain in a year and a half Wednesday and drew closer to $1 trillion in value after it reported stronger iPhone sales and rising prices.

Apple said the average selling price for the iPhone jumped 20 percent in its latest quarter and its third-quarter profit and sales both surpassed analyst projections. Apple’s third fiscal quarter is usually its weakest. The company’s forecast for fourth-quarter revenue also topped Wall Street estimates.

Apple surged 5.9 percent to $201.50. That gives the company a value of $973 billion, based on its latest quarterly filing.

Tesla reports record losses

Electric car maker Tesla Inc. burned through $739.5 million in cash last quarter, paving the way to a company record $717.5 million net loss as it cranked out more electric cars.

But Tesla reiterated a promise from CEO Elon Musk to post net profits in the third and fourth quarters, and Telsa’s shares rose 4.7 percent to $315 in after-hours trading.

The net loss more than doubled from the same quarter a year ago, and was slightly larger than the first quarter. But Tesla’s cash burn in the second quarter slowed.

The Palo Alto, California, company said it lost $4.22 per share from April through June as revenue grew 43 percent to just over $4 billion. Adjusted for stock-based compensation, the company lost $3.06 per share. That was worse than Wall Street estimates. Analysts polled by FactSet expected a $2.88 loss per share.

In a statement released after the markets closed Wednesday, Tesla said it expects to produce 50,000 to 55,000 Model 3s in the third quarter, an increase of at least 75 percent from the first quarter. Tesla spent millions as it reached a goal of producing 5,000 Model 3 sedans per week by the end of June. It now says production is rising, with the goal of 6,000 per week by the end of August. The company said it expects to reach 10,000 Model 3s per week “sometime next year.”
