A Franklin County, Tenn., deputy was behind bars after being charged on an indictment with misusing information in a criminal investigation to tip off a suspect about to be arrested.

Timothy Martin Tyler, 47, was charged with one count of misuse of official information on a grand jury indictment issued Monday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Franklin County Sheriff Tim Fuller contacted 12th Judicial District Attorney General Mike Taylor with concerns about Tyler. Taylor called for a TBI investigation June 26.

During the course of the investigation, TBI agents “developed information Tyler provided a suspect with information about his impending arrest,” TBI spokesman Josh DeVine said in a news release.

Tyler turned himself in to authorities Wednesday and he was booked on the charges. He was being held on a $10,000 bond.
