Welcome back to School Report.

This week, Hamilton County Schools will recommend an architect for the construction of a new Tyner middle/high school at the Hamilton County Commission meeting for commission approval.

Last week, the commission approved $90 million bonds for school projects and public works, including the Tyner project. Justin Robertson, Hamilton County Schools interim deputy superintendent, told the commission in August that building the school will cost an estimated $65-70 million. Of that estimated amount, the district will use $25 million in the third round of federal coronavirus relief money.

Hamilton County Schools is on fall break this week, along with Marion County Schools, McMinn County Schools, Meigs County Schools and Rhea County Schools.
