The records of bus-jumping Evel Knievel were not in danger when several beaten-up ‘bangers’ took to the ramp in Angmering, England, on Monday, May 4. With a day off for a national holiday, spectators at the race-track saw competitors jump their cars over rows of 10 other vehicles in the hope of winning the UK car jumpers title.
Local mechanic Joe Brown jumped his Ford car towing a caravan first, then returned with the intention of jumping into the caravan which remained on top of the cars. Instead he surfed off the roof of the caravan and nearly cleared the line of cars completely – which he said was awesome. The winner was Ruben Neves, jumping for the first time in an old purple car.
His first jump pushed aside the final car in the line, and he landed on his wheels having jumped the line.
