Peach peak

Chattanooga Market vendors will show visitors myriad possibilities for using peaches at Sunday’s Peach Festival in First Tennessee Pavilion.

According to market spokeswoman Melissa Siragusa, the pavilion will be filled with about 150 vendors.

Penn’s Concessions will sell peaches and cream sundaes and peach milkshakes; Mayfield’s will bring peach ice cream; and Market Cafe will offer peach desserts.

Unique peach edibles will include Lockhart’s Spicy Peach Barbecue Sauce, Peach Habanera Salsa from Daylillies and Peaches & Herb iced tea from Lee and Gordon’s Greenhouse.

Simply Can’t Resist will bring to market peach-scented and tinted lotions, soaps, sprays and lip balm.

These are all in addition to traditional jars of jams, jellies and preserves that will be sold as well.

“This Sunday marks the peak of peach season, and there should be plenty for everyone,” Siragusa said. “We’ll have as many as four farmers who will be there with peaches picked fresh that morning. Come taste the difference between our peaches and those bred for distribution at the grocery store. You’ll want to buy plenty and freeze them for winter.”

Entertaining visitors will be Morgan Bracy followed by Paul Edelman.

Bracy is a Nashville singer/songwriter who released her debut CD, “Dirty Laundry,” three years ago. The folk singer co-wrote all 10 tracks. She is currently working with Grammy-nominated producer John Merchant on a new CD.

Edelman, according to his Facebook page, has been a Boxcar, a Butcher Holler Boy and lead guitarist for Naked Omaha before going out on his own. He also performs with the Jangling Sparrows.
