Sheriff’s deputies driving by a mobile home about 10 a.m. Tuesday saw two young children playing in a broken rear window of a mobile home at 126 Culver Drive in Mohawk, Tenn.
Five children and 18 animals were found in the trailer. Two women have been charged with two counts each of aggravated child abuse and neglect and three counts each of child abuse and neglect.
Charged with the felony offenses were two residents of the Culver Drive address, 21-year-old Shayna Leann Dean and 27-year-old Jaedi Danielle Proveaux.
When deputies attempted to make contact with the women after seeing the children, it took about five minutes to get any response, Deputy Mark Crum said in a report.
Once contact was made, deputies saw animals in the trailer, along with urine and feces on the floor, the report said.
“There was blood on the two young children, who had been cut by the broken window,” the report said.
Called to the trailer were Greene County-Greeneville EMS, Child Protective Services, sheriff’s detectives and Greene County Animal Control.
Three other minor children were also found in the mobile home, the report said.
Eighteen animals were removed from the trailer.
Bond for Dean and Proveaux was set at $200,000 each. Both have first scheduled appearances Wednesday in General Sessions Court.
