Stars beat Lookouts 8-2

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Zelous Wheeler’s three-run home run to right field in the second inning sparked Huntsville to an 8-2 Southern League baseball victory Monday night against the Chattanooga Lookouts.

Wheeler’s blast put the Stars in command at 5-0 and made Chattanooga pay for its repeated mistakes. Lookouts starting pitcher Mario Alvarez retired the first two Stars in the second before an Elian Herrera fielding error got Huntsville (11-7) going. Alvarez and Herrera committed additional errors as the Stars scored four runs in the inning.

The Lookouts (8-10) got within 5-2 in the fourth, when they opened with an Andrew Lambo double to center, a Mike Rivera single to left and an Eddy Perez RBI single to right.

Game four of a five-game series in Huntsville is tonight at 8 EDT. John Koronka (0-2, 5.40 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Michael Bowman (2-0, 3.60) scheduled for the Stars.
