JACKSON, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Lookouts were no match for West Tenn starting pitcher Michael Pineda earlier this month at AT&T Field, and it was more of the same in a 5-1 loss Friday night at Pringles Park.
Pineda allowed one run on five hits. The Diamond Jaxx gave him plenty of room in which to work with a four-run first inning, which began with an error by Lookouts shortstop Dee Gordon and was highlighted by Nate Tenbrink’s two-run home run to center field.
Chattanooga (31-36) trailed 5-0 in the seventh inning, when Dustin Yount’s single to left scored Corey Smith.
The Lookouts will wrap up the first half of their season tonight with two seven-inning games at Pringles, beginning at 6:05 EDT. Chris Withrow (2-3, 5.26 ERA) is the Lookouts’ scheduled starting pitcher in the opener, with Steven Hensley (6-3, 2.34) listed for the Diamond Jaxx.
