Editor’s note: Barry Courter has a 26-year-old son who is a college graduate and a 21-year-old daughter who is a senior in college. Each week he poses a question he wishes they would ask.
Q: Dad, what is one thing that seems to cause the most problem between otherwise smart people?
A: Assuming the other person knows what you know, is thinking what you are thinking and has the same goals that you have. Especially where money is involved, it’s best to be as clear and accurate as possible before anything is signed or agreed upon. And get it in writing, if possible.
