World leaders, political insiders and the military’s highest-ranking officers still are just people, Northwest Whitfield High School senior Jeremiah Stevens says.
Mr. Stevens, 18, just returned from a weeklong stint in Washington, D.C., as one of Georgia’s two delegates to the U.S. Senate Youth Program for 2010.
“It was an incredible experience,” he said. “The level of access this program has is amazing.”
He met President Barack Obama, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, a brigadier general and dozens of other movers and shakers who can rattle the world.
But they didn’t rattle him, Mr. Stevens said.
