The holidays are built on tradition. But even the strongest foundation can benefit from a little re-enforcement.
Why not let Ooltewah’s Mountain Oaks Tea Room simplify your holiday season?
“People want to spend time with their families, not get up at 2 a.m. and start cooking so that you’re just tired all day,” said tea room owner Sonya Guffey.
Mountain Oaks Tea Room is now accepting reservations for private events, from corporate parties to family dinners.
The large event space, which is attached to a popular wedding chapel of the same name, features four dining rooms, each with a different theme, color scheme and china patterns. There is “The Queen’s Room,” “The Gardenview,” “The French Market” and “Scarlett’s Room,” which features floral patterns, hunter green lace and satin-topped tables and a painting of – who else? – Scarlett O’Hara.
And the tea room’s menu, which Sonya describes as specializing in “afternoon eats,” is just as charming. Best of all, it can be customized to fit your catering needs.
“We do smoked hams and turkey, but last year, we also did a lot of non-traditional Christmas dinners,” Sonya said. “You go through five, six, seven [versions] of the same ham dinner during the holidays; people get tired of it. We do a lot of pasta bars and pork loin or brisket carving stations.”
After all, the holidays may be built on tradition; but at Mountain Oaks Tea Room, there is space to create new customs, too.
IF YOU GO
The holidays are all-consuming this time of year, but you’ll want to mark your calendar for the tea room’s next princess tea party, featuring Disney princesses appearing live and a kid-friendly menu.
