None of this area’s candidates for the Tennessee Senate and House was opposed in Thursday’s state primaries, though one will have a general election opponent.
District 28 Democrat state Rep. Tommie Brown will face GOP challenger Teresa Wood in November.
Also moving on to the November election – but assured of victory because they face no general election opposition – are District 11 Republican state Sen. Bo Watson, District 26 Republican state Rep. Gerald McCormick, District 27 Republican state Rep. Richard Floyd, District 29 Democrat state Rep. JoAnne Favors, District 30 Republican state Rep. Vince Dean and District 31 Republican state Rep. Jim Cobb.
Lack of opposition in most of these races suggests constituents are basically satisfied with their legislators’ service. Our local legislative delegation has generally worked cooperatively and diligently. We commend them for their willingness to serve.
