FUNDRAISER

HAIRSTYLIST Christie Smith in Dayton, Tenn., has organized a fundraiser this Saturday to benefit the earthquake victims in Haiti. Ms. Smith, a hairstylist at Market Street Hair at 1334 Market St. in downtown Dayton, said the devastation hit close to home. Her son, Elijah, a senior at Rhea County High School, is half Haitian.

Salon co-owners Marcie Thurman, Lea Heard, Kara Massengale and Brenda Riley agreed to let her host the fundraiser, Haircuts for Haiti, at the salon from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to CARE (for Haitian earthquake relief) and the relief fund organized by Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush Sr. The cuts for women will be $25; men, $15, and children under 12 will be $12.
