A distressing diagnosisLocal family told their new baby has Down syndrome — after he leaves the hospital

After his initial diagnosis of Down syndrome, tests and doctor visits revealed Maverick doesn't suffer some of the more serious effects of Down syndrome such as heart problems, seizures and thyroid diseases.
