photo Aaron Roden appears for a status check before Judge Gary Starnes at the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Courts Building on Tuesday.

A grand jury will decide whether to indict Aaron Roden, 22, in connection with an August rampage through Westview Elementary School.

After hearing testimony Thursday from police and school officials, general sessions court judge Gary Starnes determined there was probable cause and bound vandalism, burglary and aggravated assault charges against Roden over to a grand jury.

He also denied defense attorney Bill Speek’s request that Roden’s bond be lowered so he could be transferred out of the Hamilton County Jail to CCA Silverdale, where he said mental health services are better.
