No investigation; video proof enough

By now, everyone has seen the video of our sheriff’s deputy beating a suspect who was handcuffed.

At first-hand, it is apparent that bullies need not be only grade schoolers; some appear to be the size of NFL players. Say what you want, but the deputy is a coward for taking such an advantage. After the video went out, the spin doctors emerged.

To claim that what the arrested person did before the mauling justified the actions by our “public protector” is indefensible and ridiculous. Medical records indicated the victim received broken ribs from kicks, a collapsed lung, as well as more injuries.

Sheriff Hammond’s claim that all those injuries occurred earlier in the day was preposterous, especially coming from a man who bends the law to protect his deputies, as was done for an arrested DUI officer.

There is not much reason for further “investigation” in this incident, regardless of apologists who want to blame the defendant for the “alleged” attack. The public has seen.

This writer suggests that corruption can occur in areas other than politics.

Consider another use of wellness center

How about making the “wellness center” across from the Community Kitchen and almost next to a police precinct a shelter?

Great location and nice newer building. Let city employees go to the Ys or other workout facilities all over the city.

This might be a better use of taxpayer money and allow the city to start paving many streets that need it.

American character like a bag of chips

One of the hardest knowledges to achieve is knowledge of self, and I think this also applies to one’s own country. So this is my humble attempt to clear the fog surrounding a fuller knowledge of our American character.

First, some evidence of a dark side: materialism, tribalism, loss of Christian faith, love of fake reality, self-indulgence (drug/alcohol addictions, etc.) and a self-involved lifestyle. No need to list America’s good areas. We all know those qualities of our country.

So, in summary, we are like a bag of chips. Our packaging is modern and to be envied, but how about those good-tasting chips not gluten/cholesterol free, not Kosher certified and comprised of trans fat/artificial colors, flavors/MSG/preservatives/artificial sweeteners?
