The Rant

Why make voting mandatory? When you do not take the opportunity to vote, you have already voiced your opinion.

While city after Iraqi city that our soldiers fought and died for continue to fall to ISIS, stupid Republicans keep talking about bombing Iran. Depressing.

President Obama, if your deal with Iran is so good, why are they dancing in the streets over there?

An ex-Gitmo inmate kills a government official in Uganda. Another positive Gitmo release doing what they do best.

Ironic: The GOP wants Hispanics out of the U.S, but has three top GOP members of Hispanic origin running for president: Rubio, Cruz and Bush.

Clay Bennett needs to donate his “The Constitution for Dummies” to the President Obama Library for a reference book.

Quick! When was the last time the government said they had enough money and returned the extra to us?

Bennett’s Sunday cartoon was perfect. Those supporting the Bible as state book are doing so 100 percent to try to be re-elected.

Why are our representatives in Nashville so concerned with guns, religion and abortion? What happened to the economy, education and environment?

If Tennessee had elected Harold Ford senator in 2006, would Time Magazine count him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world?

Dream on, minimum wagers. Congress is bought and paid for by corporations who want to keep you living on $15,000 a year.

Law enforcement extensively uses DNA for evidence. Denial of evolution is denial of DNA. What is so difficult about understanding a tadpole becoming a frog?

Have the new traffic signals on Highway 153 improved road safety? I can’t tell a difference.

The Bible as state book is a pointless exercise of fundamentalist posturing.

Please explain why Tennessee legislators think the Bible should be our state book, but they won’t follow its teachings, i.e., help the poor.

So we pay our lawmakers to debate the Bible for a state book when they should be doing something constructive instead.

If Tennessee must have a state book, it should be “General Assembly Membership for Dummies.” The title certainly fits the majority of its membership.

If you didn’t vote in the school board or county commission elections, don’t complain when they raise your property taxes.

Dear 280,000 Tennesseans denied health care by our state legislators: Don’t vote for those guys next time around.

Commissioner Tim Boyd needs to do his homework before sending misinformation to the press; not the first time he’s put his foot in his mouth.

New flood zones? We need board members with enough backbone to stop unscrupulous developers who cause flooding.

Minimum wage rising. Insurance payments dropping. Don’t ever complain about the wait in a doctor’s office.

I’m so confused. So people against Common Core don’t want higher academic standards?

Boo hoo, Rick Smith, “only pennies make it into the classroom.” How many dollars are wasted in your Taj Mahal on Bonny Oaks?

To the policeman who lives in the Flagstone subdivision: Lawnmowers and other yard tools are to be used only by adults and not your children.

God did not create gays. He created perfect humans who chose to disobey and eat the forbidden fruit. This act unleashed evil into the world.

Shame on the irresponsible jerk in the white pick-up who dumped his pit bull in Gateway Antique Mall parking lot in Fort Oglethorpe.
