Soprano Jessica Usherwood, an alumna of Lee University, will return to her alma mater Tuesday for a concert.
Usherwood’s recital will be a classical program of songs by Leonard Bernstein, Ricky Ian Gordon and from Andre Previn’s “Honey and Rue.”
A standout in both classical and jazz music, Usherwood has a repertoire ranging from Mozart to Duke Ellington. She has appeared for the past several seasons with the Chicago Opera Theater.
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Recital Hall in the Humanities Center, 1250 Parker St., NE, on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus.
Usherwood said she looks forward to reuniting with her former voice teacher, Virginia Horton, and mentor, Paula Archer Wyatt, “who were an integral part of my professional training while at Lee. It’s also special for me to collaborate once again with Mary Beth Wickes, who will accompany me during the recital.”
Tickets are free, but seating is limited. Tickets may be reserved by calling the Dixon Center box office at 423-614-8343. The box office is open 3-6 p.m. weekdays. Tickets also will be available at the door, as available, one hour before the show.
