Siren’s now offers beer

Siren’s Seafood and Steak Market recently got its beer license and will begin serving domestic and craft beers in the restaurant this week as well as selling them to go.

“We’ve had overwhelming support for it for the past year and a half,” said owner Eric Opitach. “We sell everything you need for a shrimp boil, from the shrimp to the potatoes to the pot you cook it in. Whenever you do a shrimp boil you’re usually drinking beer, so it makes sense that we would sell that too.”

He said they will have 20-25 different types of beer, including Budweiser and Miller products, Michelob Ultra, Shock Top, SweetWater IPA, SweetWater 420, AmberBock and Fat Tire.

“We want to have a good selection of basics and a few unique things at a good price,” said Opitach.

Initially beer will be available in bottles only, but they may move toward draft offerings in the future once they get an idea of the types of beer their customers want.

In addition to bottled beers, the restaurant will also be serving two to three different beer cocktails. He said they have no plans to add liquor at this point, but they may begin offering wine in the future depending on demand.

The deck is expected to open this week, so customers can enjoy their beverages in the great outdoors.
