Elizabeth Baker prepared to lead

I live in District 2 of Hamilton County. I voted for Elizabeth Baker for county commissioner. I ask the other citizens of District 2 to vote for Elizabeth.

I first became aware of Elizabeth’s commitment to community because of her work with Stay with HCDE, a nonpartisan group which she co-founded. She spearheaded an independent investigation of whether a separate school district for the Town of Signal Mountain was necessary or appropriate.

As a result of Elizabeth’s and others’ efforts, the proposal stalled, but there are those who would go forward. District 2 needs a commissioner who understands the value of Signal staying with HCDE. Elizabeth is that commissioner.

Elizabeth has studied the county commission system. She attends meetings of the Hamilton County Commission. She knows the issues. She is prepared to begin work as soon as she takes office.

Regardless of your political affiliation, if you vote on Signal Mountain or in Red Bank 3, Lupton City, Stuart Heights or Valdeau, please join me in voting for Elizabeth Baker. Early voting has already begun. Election Day is Thursday, Aug. 2.

Please call your friends in District 2 and ask them to vote for Elizabeth.

Blackburn will support our values

If there is one thing our state needs now, it is Republican Marsha Blackburn. Marsha’s selflessness, perseverance and integrity make her our leading 2018 Senate candidate, but her loyalty to Tennessee makes her stand out.

In the early 2000s, Blackburn fought day and night to stop the state income tax, and as senator, she will continue to fight the creation of new taxes so our economy can prosper.

She also has worked to ensure our tax dollars are being used effectively, and her belief that “every life counts” ensures that none of these tax dollars will help fund abortions. Her loyalty is not limited to Tennessee, however, but it is also extended to our president and the Constitution.

As senator, Congressman Blackburn will continue to support the values our country is based upon. She will work with President Trump on solving our nation’s greatest issues, and she will show her support for those who daily help protect our freedoms.

Congressman Blackburn’s loyalty, boldness, candor and willingness to act are the reasons we need her in the U.S. Senate. We need your vote to make it possible. Vote Marsha for U.S. Senate.

Grant Parker, Spring Hill, Tenn.

Chip Baker brings wealth of experience

Sen. Howard Baker believed that public service was an important part of giving back in a democratic society.

Chip Baker, who previously served on the Hamilton County school board, decided to again run for public office, this time as a candidate for the Hamilton County Commission.

As the choice for District 2 on the commission, Chip will bring his experience as a business person, as a person familiar with how government should work and with a broad base of knowledge on our community.

Chip is the right decision for the county commission.
