TRENTON, Ga. – Crews will install windows in the new Dade County Courthouse this week, taking the building a little closer to completion.
“They’re about 98 percent finished on the outside,” County Executive Ted Rumley said.
The new courthouse, across from the county administration building, will be 32,000 square feet and feature two courtrooms. Initial estimates pegged the price tag at about $6 million, but after months of squabbles about the expense, the original plans were scaled back and the cost is expected to be close to $3.5 million, according to officials.
Mr. Rumley said the building is on track to be usable by the end of September and to be ready for Superior Court by the October session.
“It’s coming along,” he said.
