The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team’s appeal to the NCAA to allow Tennessee transfer Faith Dupree to play right away has been denied.
Laura Herron, UTC’s senior associate athletic director for compliance and senior woman administrator, was informed of the decision today. Herron said last month that UTC filed an appeal “based on medical rationale,” with the NCAA Division I Subcommittee for Legislative Relief.
Dupree, a 6-foot-3 forward, received a medical redshirt last season due to a back injury. The redshirt freshman announced this fall that she was leaving UT to join the Lady Mocs. Dupree will begin classes in January and can start practicing with the team on Dec. 15.
Dupree will be eligible to play after sitting out a year.
