Before 1 a.m., Chattanooga firefighters and police officers responded to a residential fire at 614 Phoenix Avenue.
On scene, Engine 15 firefighters observed a small fire at the back of the home had been extinguished by the residents. The back door was blackened by the fire, but no one was injured and no other damage was reported.
Captain Henry McElvain, with the Fire Investigation Division, said there was evidence on scene that several incendiary devices had been thrown at the house. A resident told McElvain that she had several run-ins with local gang members in the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
