An investigation is underway after at least 16 firearms were stolen from Dave’s Shooting Supply in Red Bank on Thursday.

According to a news release, the thefts occurred during a burglary at the shop, located at 4220 Dayton Blvd. The incident was reported to the Red Bank Police Department, who then notified the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. ATF investigators are conducting an inventory to determine the exact number of firearms stolen.

The ATF is the lead federal law enforcement agency with jurisdiction involving firearms and violent crimes, and regulates the firearm industry.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the ATF, in conjunction with the Red Bank Police Department and the National Shooting Sports Foundation – the trade association for the firearms industry – for information leading to the arrest and conviction for those responsible for the theft.

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF’s reward in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers, the release state’s.

“ATF works closely with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms,” ATF Special Agent in Charge Marcus Watson said in the release. “ATF’s Crime Gun Intelligence will leverage investigative resources combined with community partnerships to recover the stolen firearms.”
