Good morning, Chattanooga!
Today we commemorate Veterans Day.
For Angie Oliver, she was looking for a way to pay for college.
Vance Fry got his engineering degree from the Naval Academy before serving for more than 30 years.
Tom Ramsey was only one of four sailors to serve in a special role during the Cold War.
And Klaus Peucker grew up in Germany but migrated to the U.S. and served in the military.
Regardless of how they got there and how they served, the Chattanooga area is home to countless veterans and we’ve been celebrating and honoring their service this month through our veterans salute.
In the links above read these four veterans’ stories and check out all featured service members for 2021 and past years at www.timesfreepress.com/veterans/2021/
AREA EVENTS: Here are a few ways the area will be commemorating veterans today.
AREA FREEBIES: From free coffee to free meals, there are dozens of area businesses offering freebies to veterans today. Also at the bottom of this article, find five ways to commemorate the day.
