Bloated ‘stimulus’ gets even bigger

The numbers coming out of Washington have gotten so enormous that they are almost numbing:

* A $12.1 trillion national debt, soon to rise to $14.3 trillion when Congress approves a new “debt limit” that does nothing to limit debt.

* Single-year federal budget deficits of about $1.4 trillion, on top of an already-too-high federal tax burden that stifles economic growth.

* An $862 billion “stimulus” that is stimulating government but not the private-sector jobs we were told it would create.

But wait a minute! Isn’t that last number too high? Wasn’t the stimulus “only” $787 billion?
