People throughout the Chattanooga area have welcomed the announcement that Volkswagen will produce about 2,000 good jobs when it gets into car production next year, and will create several hundred other jobs among suppliers, etc.
But VW already is producing good jobs news.
About 2,000 people currently are at work in building VW’s necessary facilities. And that number likely will rise substantially as construction proceeds.
Building a billion-dollar production facility takes lots of hands, lots of equipment and lots of material long before cars begin to roll off production lines next year.
Volkswagen promises to be very good for Chattanooga in many ways. And Chattanoogans should be determined that Chattanooga will be very good for Volkswagen’s big operations in our welcoming community.
