The Signal Mountain Middle/High School Music Boosters’ recent Swing, Swang, Swung event was a success, with 215 people in attendance and raising more than $6,000 for the high school music program through sales and individual donations.

Proceeds from the sold-out event will help with the cost of transportation to competitions and music instruction for the SMMHS jazz ensemble, symphonic and marching bands. The annual fundraiser also raised enough to help purchase new instruments, including a synthesizer.

Lissa Goetz, who handles communication for the Music Boosters, said the success of the event would not have been possible without event chairwomen Karen Smith and Julie Perez, as well as area businesses and individuals who donated items for the auction.
