Americans should protect culture

We should all support Sheriff Jim Hammond’s position of providing a watchful eye over radical Islamic activity as explained in the TFP on Sept. 2, 2015. Also thanks to a couple of writers over the past few weeks who explained Muslim intentions very well. In my view if we don’t impose our laws and traditions on immigrants we allow them to impose their laws and traditions on us.

Meanwhile Muslim traditions and laws are already creeping into out country. Words like tolerance, inclusiveness, acceptance and diversity are used by the left to bring in an undesirable element into are society unchecked, unguarded and unregulated.

As Ronald Reagan once said “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” At the rate we are going he may be proven right.

Appalachian Port: What cost progress?

Progress is such a relative term. I have found nothing is free; everything has a direct or indirect cost, sacrifice, detriment and/or reward associated with it. Do the rewards outweigh the sacrifices?

The proposed Appalachian Port in North Murray County was concealed from Murray residents for two years. Why, if this is such a great investment and financial gain?

I understand why the governor and Atlanta are so keen on having it located in North Georgia.

Having been in the transportation business most of my life, I have never seen a rail depot, large trucking operation or airport that anyone “wanted to live close to or around.” Loud, noisy, dirty operations, operating 24/7. The Appalachian Port will be the same.

I think everyone wants progress; however, at some point we must all ask at what cost?

Clinton dishonest about emails

We continue to hear about emails and wiped servers and now that the “sincere apology” has been made, everything is OK. Not!

For more than three decades I have held a security clearance, therefore I am well aware of the requirements for the handling of classified information. The security breaches of the former secretary of state are without a doubt a crime that is punishable by significant monetary fines, imprisonment or both.

This is not a solitary crime, like robbing a bank. It is a crime against the tens of thousands of honest security clearance holders who have kept and safeguarded information in their care. It is a crime against all those who have remained silent and against every patriot and veteran who has stood in harm’s way. It is a crime against all the women and the children who haven’t a clue what their loved one does for a living, but knows that their loved one is honest and forthright.

I regard this crime as a sin against America and its people. Surely no one can support this level of dishonesty in the highest office in the land. Duty is ours, the consequences are God’s. She’s had her reward!
