GOP needs course in ‘Trump-jectivity’

I am a Southern gun owner but not a right-wing Republican or NRA member. I am dumbfounded by claims made by a woman who, in her letter to you, stated that persons with this writer’s views only listen to leftist media. I don’t, but I recommend it to her.

She stated, “President Trump did not say he believed Putin.” However, his conduct during the first year of his bizarre presidency was sickening due, in part, to his wide-open love-fest with Putin. In her letter, she also stated, “He (Trump) merely said he asked Putin about meddling and relayed what Putin’s response was.” Trump doesn’t do anything “merely.”

Further defending Trump, she states, ” He’s also proposing new gun control measures.” He may have on one day, but the next day he said the opposite. However, he is steadfast in one thing: his love-fest with Putin.

Too bad for amusement parks, we don’t need to ride roller coasters; we can just witness the ups, downs and sideways of Trump’s convoluted, dangerous, atrocious and explosive behavior.

Right-wing Republicans should take a course in objectivity.

Don’t give up your right to own guns

With stunning, willful ignorance, liberals immediately blame the NRA for the Florida shooting. Political correctness and cultural decline was the cause of this preventable disaster, not the NRA.

Numerous existing laws, safeguards and red flags were ignored, and government at all levels failed Parkland.

Why do we need more gun laws?

Millions of law-abiding, responsible gun owners are represented across the political, cultural spectrum, and the NRA supports and defends Second Amendment rights for all citizens. If you choose not to own a gun, that’s your choice, but please don’t ever give up your right to own one because you will never get it back.

If you fear guns, perhaps you lack some knowledge, so please consider visiting a shooting range with a qualified instructor to learn gun basics, practicing safety first, last and always. Guns are not toys but shouldn’t scare you; they are a great equalizer.

In a perfect world with no guns, there would be no evil, but this is the real world.

I have great respect for all first responders, but gun free zones are deadly.

Industries playing shoppers for fools

The recent April Fool’s Day reminds us how the meat, egg, and dairy industries play us for fools every day.

The meat industry has developed a whole dictionary designed to fool unwary consumers. The flesh of pigs is called “pork” or “bacon” to fool viewers of “Charlotte’s Web” into eating it. And, cesspools of pig waste that spill into our drinking water supplies during hurricanes are named “lagoons.”

The egg-laying industry is arguing with USDA whether chickens laying organic eggs should have access to the outdoors. But few seem to care that laying hens get to live less than one-tenth their natural lives. A number of states also have enacted “ag-gag” laws that criminalize exposés of factory farm and slaughterhouse atrocities.

The meat, dairy and egg industry’s fooling days may be ending. Many of us are seeing through the deception and buying healthier, eco-friendly nut and grain-based products available in every supermarket.
