On the eve of national signing day, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program picked up a commitment from Javon Burke, a 6-foot, 195-pound athlete from Bradley Central.

Burke – whose twin brother Javin will sign with the University of Virginia Wednesday – becomes the Mocs’ sixth commitment for the 2021 recruiting cycle, and the third high school prospect.

Burke was the Region 2-6A Offensive Player of the Year in 2020, rushing for 1,867 yards and 12 touchdowns while catching 31 passes for 395 yards and four more scores. After playing mostly as a slot receiver during his career, he moved to running back as a senior, as the Bears lost some talented players due to graduation, transfer and injury.

Burke chose the Mocs over Appalachian State, Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT-Martin and Western Carolina, ultimately picking UTC over Austin Peay and UT-Martin.

He joins offensive lineman Christian Anderson and defensive athlete Jamario Blige as prep commitments. UTC also has commitments from Austin Peay offensive lineman Blake Mitchell, Western Kentucky receiver Tyler “Smoke” Smith and Jacksonville State punter Jason Pierce.
